STUDENT MATERIALS DISTRIBUTION PLAN AND SCHEDULE
Posted 8/14/20

Dear Brookvale Families,

Upon successful review of your Online Maze Day submission by our office staff, your child’s teacher and classroom assignment for the 2020-2021 school year will be available to you through the Parent Portal, starting on Monday, 8/17/20.  While the Online Maze Day submission window is available from 8/12/20 through 8/26/20, I highly encourage you to complete this process as soon as possible.  Doing so will prepare you for our textbook and material distribution to take place on August 24th and August 25th.  If you have any problems with accessing your Illuminate Home Connection Parent Portal, please visit our Brookvale website help. You will find the information under Bronco Updates.

All students will need access to a computer and an internet connection to participate in distance learning.  We encourage families to make use of existing technology that is already accessible in their homes, but understand that some families may need a Chromebook for distance learning.  Our school’s website, https://brookvale.fremont.k12.ca.us/ has a link at the top titled  “ Chromebook Interest Form.”  Please indicate your family’s needs by using this form.

By the evening of Friday, 8/21/20, your child’s classroom teacher will have sent you an email with an invitation to a brief before school online check in to verify that your child has online access for distance learning.  Please be sure to continue to check your email inbox for school communication.

Classroom textbooks/workbooks and other needed learning materials will be available for you to pick up on Monday 8/24 and Tuesday 8/25.  During your scheduled grade level time, your child's bag will be placed  outside the assigned teacher  classroom labeled with their name for you to pick up.

We ask, to the extent possible, that only a single representative from your household comes to campus.  While on campus, all visitors must wear a face covering and maintain social distancing.  While we are excited about the start of the school year, this will not be a time to socialize on campus and teachers are not available to speak to parents/guardians.

The school thanks you in advance for being on time to the appointment window, as your timely arrival and departure will help keep our campus and its visitors safe.

I want to thank the Brookvale community for their ongoing support, patience, and understanding.  The opening of a school for any given year is a complex task.  Doing so during a pandemic has created challenges I previously could not have imagined.  We continue to work on strategies to ensure we are providing your child with high quality online distance learning experiences until which time it is safe to return to our campus and classrooms.  I hope your families have had and continue to have a wonderful summer break!

We look forward to welcoming you back on August 26, 2020!

Mrs. Malinda Elliott

Brookvale Principal
